Zakynthos Airport to Your Hotel: Taxi, Bus or Transfer?
Updated October 11, 2026 · 4 min read
The short answer
Use the public bus when the current timetable matches your flight and you are comfortable changing in Zakynthos Town. Choose a taxi or pre-booked transfer when you arrive late, carry bulky luggage or want a direct ride to a resort. Do not assume a flight arrival will have a convenient bus.
Public bus
KTEL runs between the airport and Zakynthos Town. Resort journeys may require a connection at the town bus station rather than a direct service. Timetables change by season, so check KTEL on the day you plan the transfer and allow time between services. This is the budget option, but also the least forgiving after a delayed flight.
Taxi or booked transfer
The taxi rank is outside the terminal. A taxi is the simplest choice for a direct journey, while a pre-booked transfer gives you a named arrangement before landing and can be easier for a larger party. Confirm the total fare, child-seat request and meeting instructions with the provider before paying; do not rely on an old online price table.
Hire car
A car makes sense when the airport trip is the start of several independent island drives, not merely as an expensive hotel transfer. Compare car hire at Zakynthos, then check the fuel policy, deposit, excess, child-seat charge and whether the rental agreement excludes unpaved roads.
The practical choice
Bus for a well-timed daytime arrival; taxi for the simplest direct trip; pre-booked transfer for certainty or a larger group; hire car only when you will use it beyond arrival day.
